Chattahoochee Tech hosted 136 high school students from Cherokee County along with local industry representatives for a Manufacturing Lunch & Learn on Friday, Feb. 3, at the college’s North Metro Campus.
Students interacted with industry representatives to learn more about career opportunities in local industries, and then toured the college’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing. This facility, which opened in 2022, houses the college’s Precision Machining and Manufacturing program along with the Industrial Maintenance and Electrical Technology program. Students also had an opportunity to learn more about the Commercial Truck Driving program available at Chattahoochee Tech.
Following the campus tour, a panel discussion highlighted the educational and career opportunities available in advanced manufacturing. This panel featured North Georgia Staffing Regional Manager Chelsea Wilbur and Chattahoochee Tech students Josephine Faulkner, Angel Ortega, and Branson Garland. Faulkner is a student in the college’s Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology program. Ortega and Garland are both students in the college’s Industrial Maintenance & Electrical Technology programs. Ortega is also already employed by Universal Alloy Corp.
