Chattahoochee Technical College has announced the winners of its 2024 outstanding student and instructor competitions, with student Kristen Lee and instructor Natalia Meneses receiving top honors. The college also announced Karina Moyado Montoya as the Chattahoochee Tech Adult Education program’s top award winner.
Competition finalists were honored at an awards ceremony held Friday, Jan. 26, at the North Metro Campus. Kristen Lee, a student in the college’s Occupational Therapy Assistant program, received the college’s 2024 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) award. GOAL, a statewide program of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), honors excellence in academics and leadership among the state’s technical college students. The 2024 Chattahoochee Tech GOAL finalists and their programs of studies also included Mckenzie Bartlett, Radiography; Tennille Redmond, Paralegal Studies; and Maria Luiza Rocha, Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology.
Political Science Instructor Natalia Meneses received the Chattahoochee Tech 2024 Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Education. This award honors the most outstanding TCSG instructors. Finalists in the college’s 2024 top instructor competition also included Physical Therapist Assistant Instructor Morgan Marcum, Welding & Joining Technology Instructor Callahan Roberson, and Automotive Technology Instructor Taylor Smith.
The Chattahoochee Tech GOAL winner Kristen Lee and RPA winner Natalia Meneses both will move on to the TCSG regional level competitions. Regional winners then will compete at the state level, with selection committees including business and industry representatives. In 2023, Chattahoochee Tech Mathematics Instructor Adrienne Baldwin was selected as the state winner in the TCSG competition for top instructor.
The 2024 Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) award was presented to Karina Moyado Montoya. The EAGLE award program celebrates adult learners who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in adult education classes. The college’s 2024 EAGLE award finalists also included Angela Acito and Louiza Boudkhil. The Adult Education program at Chattahoochee Technical College offers free High School Equivalency diploma classes, English as a Second Language, basic skills, and business soft skills classes.
