$150,000 in Scholarships Help Chattahoochee Tech Students Stay on Track to Success

Reaching graduation just became more financially manageable for 83 students at Chattahoochee Technical College. To help them stay on track with their education, the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation has awarded $150,000 in student scholarships this year.

The college celebrated these students and honored the donors who made the scholarships possible during a special reception help Friday, April 18, at the college’s North Metro Campus.
“We are deeply grateful to our generous donors for making a real difference in the lives of our students,” said Jennifer Nelson, Vice President of Advancement and Executive Director of the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation. “For many students, this financial support makes the difference between staying in school or putting their education on hold.”

Many students face tough choices when money is tight. When they encounter rising expenses or unexpected financial hardship, they are forced to choose between continuing with their education or meeting basic living or family needs. “These scholarships make it possible for our students to stay in school and complete their programs of study,” said Nelson. “Then they’re ready to enter the local workforce as highly skilled professionals in well-paying jobs.”

Students receiving scholarships represent a wide range of programs at the college, and received awards ranging from $500 to $2,500. Applicants were evaluated by the college’s Board of Trustees and matched with scholarships based on eligibility and merit. In addition to meeting specific scholarship criteria, students were required to meet GPA standards, demonstrate financial need and be enrolled in a required number of credit hours.

The Chattahoochee Tech Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides financial support to Chattahoochee Technical College, its students and its programs.
