Georgia’s Own Credit Union Donates $10,000 to Chattahoochee Tech Foundation

Georgia’s Own Credit Union has made a generous $10,000 donation to the Chattahoochee Tech Foundation to support the college’s nursing program.

David Preter, President & CEO of Georgia’s Own Credit Union, presented the donation on Jan. 7 at the college’s Marietta Campus to Chattahoochee Tech Vice President of Advancement Jennifer Nelson and Board of Trustees Chair Marty Hughes. Also in attendance for the donation presentation were Board of Trustees member Cassy Ferrell, who is also the Senior Vice President of Operations at Georgia Credit Union, and the college’s Dean of Nursing, Claudia Grooms.

“Georgia’s Own is incredibly proud to support Chattahoochee Tech as they continue to uplift their students and the community through their renowned nursing program,” said Preter.
Not only are they filling a critical need in our healthcare system, they’re empowering their graduates to make an outsized impact on countless individuals that they will go on to serve. We look forward to our continued partnership and to watching this success continue to grow!”

The Georgia’s Own Credit Union donation will support the mission of Chattahoochee Tech to prepare students for the local workforce. These funds will be used specifically to support the college’ nursing program, including initiatives aimed at alleviating financial burdens that may prevent nursing students from completing their studies. More than 150 students are currently enrolled in the college’s Nursing Associate of Science degree program, where they are training to become Registered Nurses. An additional 200 students are enrolled in the college’s Practical Nursing and Nursing Assistant programs. In 2024, the Chattahoochee Tech nursing program earned top state rankings from both RegisteredNursing.org and PracticalNursing.org.

“We are very grateful to Georgia’s Own Credit Union for their generous support,” said Nelson. “Our nursing students are the future healthcare workforce for our community. With the support of donations like this, we can help these students complete their nursing education and step right into the workforce.”
