Chattahoochee Technical College celebrated 60 years of preparing students for the local workforce with a festive event held at the Marietta Campus on Thursday, Sept. 14.
The 60th anniversary celebration was held outdoors in front of the Superior Plumbing Veterans Education Career Transition Resource (VECTR) Center from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with TCSG Commissioner Greg Dozier and local officials delivering brief remarks at 11:30 a.m. This event also featured grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, 1960s music, giveaway items, and a 1960s theme costume contest.
Chattahoochee Tech began with one building in 1963 for 120 students at the college’s current location in Marietta. “From our humble beginnings as the Marietta-Cobb Area Vocational Technical School, with a hundred students and limited courses, here we are six decades later with ten thousand students and scores of programs and credentials,” said Chattahoochee Tech President Dr. Ron Newcomb.
The story of Chattahoochee Tech’s success through the years is also the story of successfully preparing tens of thousands of students to serve in careers that meet a wide variety of local workforce needs.
